
Spider-less Grandfather Tomb – Orthophoto and Mesh Model Production
Three-Dimensional Documentation, Orthophoto and Surface Model Production with Leica RTC360
To document the current state of the Örümceksiz Dede Tomb and to provide a basis for architectural studies, we carried out terrestrial laser scanning, orthophoto, and mesh model production. Using the scanning data obtained with a Leica RTC360, we transferred the geometry and architectural details of the structure to a digital environment.
We combined the field data in Cyclone REGISTER 360 software to create a comprehensive point cloud of the structure. We used the processed point cloud as a basis for orthophoto and three-dimensional mesh model generation. This allowed the structure to be evaluated in two-dimensional drawings and its surface geometry to be examined in a three-dimensional environment.
Documentation via Terrestrial Laser Scanning: We recorded the existing geometry and surface details of the structure as a three-dimensional point cloud.
Orthophoto Production: We produced scaled and measurable orthophotos that serve as references for architectural survey drawings.
Mesh Model Generation: We created a three-dimensional model representing the structure's shape and surface irregularities by generating a triangular surface mesh from point cloud data.
A Basis for Architectural Analysis: By using orthophotos and mesh models together, we enabled the evaluation of building details from different perspectives.
By producing orthophotos and a mesh model, we have contributed to the digital archive of the Örümceksiz Dede Tomb, creating a data infrastructure that can be used in surveying, restoration, and conservation work.
