Altunizade Litus Office – Laser Scanning and 3D Modeling Project
Shell & Core Measurement and SketchUp Model Generation
In the Altunizade Litus Office project, we conducted laser scanning and three-dimensional modeling to document the existing architectural and structural features of the shell and core office space. To provide a basis for the interior design and implementation processes, we transformed the existing geometry of the space into a digital model based on measurement data.
During the field work, we used a Leica RTC360 terrestrial laser scanner to record the office space in three dimensions. We documented the existing boundaries, load-bearing elements, openings, and height relationships of the building from the scan data. This created a data infrastructure that allows for the simultaneous evaluation of the spatial characteristics of the area during the shell & core phase, as well as the existing building conditions that need to be considered during the design process.
We created a three-dimensional model of the office space in SketchUp, referencing laser scanning data. During the modeling process, we based our calculations on the existing geometry on-site, digitally transferring the positions, dimensions, and relationships of the structural elements. This work allowed us to examine the space not only in plan view but also from different perspectives and considering its volumetric relationships.
We delivered the model we created in SketchUp format, organizing it as a base map for existing conditions that can be used in interior design and layout studies. The model allowed design teams to evaluate the space in three dimensions, develop their proposals together with the existing building conditions, and examine different layout options in the same environment.
At KG Engineering, we combined laser scanning technology with three-dimensional modeling in the Altunizade Litus Office project. By transforming the field data we obtained with the Leica RTC360 into a usable project template in SketchUp, we contributed to supporting the entire process, from the shell & core phase to interior design, with up-to-date and measurement-based data.
