Borusan Gemlik – Industrial Machine Measurements
Creating 2D Machine Projects Through Reverse Engineering
At Borusan's Gemlik facilities, a comprehensive "Reverse Engineering" project was carried out on critical industrial machinery to increase operational efficiency and address deficiencies in technical documentation. Complex machine groups, for which technical drawings were missing or which had undergone revisions over time, were digitized using our advanced measurement systems.
Technical Implementation and Methodology:
High-Precision 3D Scanning: All geometric details of the machines and peripheral equipment have been scanned with millimeter precision using the Leica RTC360 3D Laser Scanner. This allows even the finest details, curved surfaces, and connection points of the machines to be flawlessly converted into point cloud data.
Reverse Engineering Process: The obtained 3D raw data was processed by our expert engineers and transformed into meaningful geometries. Data mining was performed on the existing machine structure to create a basis for manufacturing and maintenance processes.
2D Technical Design: Based on 3D scanning data, as-built 2D technical drawings, sections, plans, and detail drawings of the machines have been recreated according to international engineering standards (ISO/DIN).
Values Added by the Project:
Completing Missing Documentation: A digital archive has been created for machines lacking technical drawings, providing a reliable technical basis for potential malfunctions or part replacements.
Precision Spare Part Manufacturing: The dimensions of worn or replacement parts on machines are determined precisely through reverse engineering, eliminating the risk of incompatibility in manufacturing processes.
Layout and Revision Planning: Thanks to 2D projects, machine layouts within the facility have been updated, and accurate space analyses have been conducted for future capacity increases.
Minimum Downtime: Since measurements are performed using contactless laser scanning technology, the data collection process is completed without the need for prolonged downtime on production lines.
