Survey Project of Daru Sultan Hotel with Laser Scanner Systems

This project we carried out for Daru Sultan Hotel — a landmark identified with Istanbul's historical fabric and distinguished by its architectural details and location — has been a unique documentation effort where contemporary measurement technologies meet traditional architecture. As part of the project, the hotel’s interior and exterior spaces were comprehensively scanned using high-precision laser scanner systems, and the building was meticulously transformed into a digital model.

The fieldwork lasted a total of 8 days, during which point cloud data collected from various angles was carefully merged and processed with architectural accuracy. Based on the obtained data, floor and ceiling plans, all architectural sections, and silhouette views of the building were prepared. Additionally, high-resolution orthophotos were produced to visually archive the current state of the structure.

This effort represents not only a technical documentation process but also a mission to digitally preserve the cultural, historical, and aesthetic values of Daru Sultan. The resulting dataset, usable in various fields from restoration planning to digital preservation archives, ensures the complete transmission of a physical presence that may change over time.
