Harbiye Open Air Museum – 3D Site Measurement with Drone

Three-Dimensional Situation Documentation with Drones

At the Harbiye Open Air Museum, we conducted 3D site surveys using a drone to document the existing layout and spatial integrity of the area. The study considered the museum area along with its surroundings, creating a measurement infrastructure for a three-dimensional assessment of the current situation and for use as a reference in future project work.

During our field work using a drone, we recorded the area from different perspectives. Thanks to the data obtained from the air, we were able to examine the layout and the positional relationships of the elements in the area with a holistic approach. Thus, instead of focusing only on individual details, we were able to evaluate the overall structure of the museum area and its relationship with its surroundings.

Our aim with 3D site surveying was to be able to read not only the horizontal layout of the area but also its elevation relationships and spatial characteristics. The data obtained formed a reference for examining the current situation and supporting future landscaping, design, and project planning studies with field information.

At KG Engineering, in this project we carried out at the Harbiye Open Air Museum, we combined the ability of drone technology to comprehensively document large areas with engineering measurement processes. By digitally recording the state of the museum area throughout its history, we contributed to understanding the current layout and developing future studies based on up-to-date measurement data.
