Malatya Hacı Yusuf Taş Mosque – Laser Scanning and As-Built Project

Preparation of the As-Built Project for the Mosque Renovated After the Earthquake

At the Hacı Yusuf Taş Mosque in Malatya, following the post-earthquake renovation works, we conducted laser scanning and as-built project studies to document the current state of the structure and transfer the completed works to architectural drawings. During this process of documenting the renovated mosque, we created a project set based on the existing situation on site and prepared in a format to be submitted to the board.

During the field work, we performed three-dimensional measurements of the structure using a Leica RTC360 terrestrial laser scanner. With the laser scanning data, we digitized the existing geometry, architectural elements, and spatial relationships of the mosque. In this way, we obtained a comprehensive data source reflecting the condition of the structure, which was renovated after the earthquake, at the time of the study.

Based on the obtained scanning data, we prepared an as-built project showing the mosque's post-construction condition. During the design process, we took into account the structure's form and architectural layout on site, ensuring that the completed works were legible and examinable through drawings. By establishing a link between the physical structure and the project documentation based on measurement data, we documented the current state after the renovation.

We have prepared the project set and organized it according to the requested submission format for board review. This work has created both a basis for evaluating the architectural condition of the renovated mosque and a digital record that can be used in the future. This record, documenting the outcome of the building's post-earthquake renovation process, can also serve as a resource for subsequent review and comparison studies.

At KG Engineering, in our work at the Hacı Yusuf Taş Mosque in Malatya, we combined laser scanning technology with the architectural documentation process. By recording the current state of the renovated structure with three-dimensional data and as-built drawings, we contributed to the preservation of its architectural memory and supported the board's evaluation process with up-to-date field data.
