Rixos Antalya Nikkei and Italian Restaurant – 2D Survey Project

We conducted a comprehensive 2D survey to document the existing architectural structure and spatial characteristics of the Nikkei and Italian restaurants located within Rixos Antalya. By recording the spatial arrangement, architectural elements, and ceiling designs that constitute the design character of the restaurants, we prepared a drawing framework that will serve as a basis for subsequent design and implementation processes.

During field studies, we used a Leica RTC360 terrestrial laser scanner to scan the current state of the restaurants in three dimensions. We integrated the data obtained from different scanning locations into a common coordinate system by recording and merging them. In this way, we created a holistic point cloud that allows us to evaluate the geometry, volumetric relationships, and architectural details of the spaces together.

Following the data processing phase, we used the point cloud as a direct reference in the production of 2D architectural drawings using the Scan2CAD workflow. We revealed the layout of spaces and the relationships between architectural elements in the floor plans, while documenting the existing ceiling geometry and arrangements in the ceiling plans. With the sections we prepared, we transferred the relationships between different levels, space heights, and vertical architectural features to the drawings. In this way, we presented the current state of the restaurants with a readable survey set in both horizontal and vertical planes.

In this project, KG Engineering combined the comprehensive field data offered by laser scanning technology with detailed architectural drawings, enabling the digital documentation of the physical space. The floor plans, ceiling plans, and sections we prepared for Rixos Antalya Nikkei and its Italian restaurants formed an architectural basis that served to evaluate the current situation, develop design decisions, and plan future renovation works based on measurement data.
